With reference to your letter of 17th day, No/6112, concerning the rules applicable in the United Kingdom to licences to use Wireless Tele raphy for experimental purposes, I am directed by the Postmaster General to say, for the information of the secretary of State, that formal licences for this purpose are not at present being issued, the necessary authority being given in each case by letter.
The cases fall into two classes viz. (A) experiments in reception only and (B) experiments in both transmission and
reception.
The conditions applicable to experiments in reception are set out in the enclosed memorandum A, which in icates also the procedure to be followed to obtain the permit. In cases where the conditions are fulfilled a letter of authority
on the lines of forn C enclosed, is sent.
